CUSTOMER PROJECT CASE STUDY
Predicting IT Infrastructure Quality and Reliability
The challenge for this client was to understand what factors influence the reliability of their computing infrastructure. To most this seems obvious, but the central premise was to determine the variables that are most predictive of computing up-time and reliability based on the infrastructure the customer had.
The model was built to analyze the customer's incident data from Service Now based on their current inventory as well as past incident, problem and change data. The model's strength was in determining the factors that influence incidents in the environment and predicting future incidents.
As the model was refined and the critical factors identified, this also presented the customer with the opportunity to remove the infrastructure equipment and configuration factors that influenced defects in environment. The result being an overall reduction in operational costs and downtime along with improved operational utilization and more importantly improved customer satisfaction.
The model then became operationalized to monitor the computing infrastructure and continuously improve the overall environment.
